treating audio

Treating dialogue and building a mix with music and sound effects can make all the difference. “Dialogue is king”, that was what I was told as a trainee. There’s nothing worse than having to reach for the remote because the dialogue is too dynamic (low to high volume) or because it’s muffled or scratchy, or thin. If we can’t hear the dialogue we miss the story.

This first video shows how dialogue from a location recording can be improved, even with quite bad noise and sonic problems

This example shows how after treating the voice and adding sound effects we get a much better result for people to hear.
